If there’s one thing no one else can do for you, it’s breathing. Your breathing is indispensable to stay alive and healthy breathing is the gateway to your life energy. However, moments of stress and tension can change our breathing and we can unconsciously create unnatural breathing patterns and rhythms. This happens very gradually in ways that is almost impossible to notice for yourself, but that you can feel in your body. It can show up as physical tension and tightness, shallow breathing, recurring physical complaints, feeling stressed, or in the lack of connection with certain body parts.

I believe that breathwork is a direct portal to a deeper connection with yourself. It is a valuable tool to invite deep transformation into your life. The breath is a beautiful mirror that shows how you (unconsciously) move through life. Breathing offers you the opportunity to let go of old pain and blockages and to heal in places that we sometimes find difficult to reach with our conscious mind. Change the way you breathe, and you automatically change the way you experience and move through life. When we breathe more deeply, we feel more deeply, connecting us deeper to ourselves and life itself. You literally and figuratively create more space for yourself and for what life has to offer you.

What is conscious connected breathing?

With conscious connected breathing, the natural pauses between the inhalation and exhalation, and exhalation and inhalation are removed, so that the breath is connected. This way of breathing offers a safe opportunity to connect to deeper layers of yourself and everything that lives inside you. Connected breathing comes in many different forms. I love to work in a soft and gentle way where you consciously breathe in and out through your mouth. With the inhalation we look to expand the physical breathing space and through the exhalation we invite deeper relaxation. Conscious connected breathing brings you from your head back to your body, literally gives you more breathing space and has the potential to support you in letting go of old pain and stubborn patterns.

What does a conscious
connected breathing session look like?

During a conscious connected breathing session, we first take the time to get to know each other and explore where your wishes and desires lie. After a clear explanation, I then gently guide you to the conscious connected breath, lying comfortably on your back and breathing in and out through your mouth. There is no hard work or forcing involved, in a soft way we create space for what your breath has to say and what wants to be felt.

With some words or a gentle touch, I invite you to let the breath flow more freely again so that you can reconnect with parts of yourself where your breath and therefore your life energy have not been flowing for a while. It may be that old emotions rise to the surface. Emotions in which you once held your breath that have been stored in your body. By consciously choosing now to gently breathe through them, you break through these old patterns so that these old emotions can now be felt and be released. After the connected breathing, there is time for integration. Time for you to feel what you have experienced and what has been brought to the surface. I’ll make sure you’re firmly on both feet again before you walk out the door.
